Do you have a state-of-the-art firewall from Palo Alto Networks today?
In this rapidly-evolving technological world, it is crucial to check whether your firewall can still face current and future threats. Our Palo Alto experts have created a checklist with 7 items to help you protect your organization.
Go to the checklistThe VM Series is a virtualized version of the advanced Palo Alto Networks firewall platform that can be deployed in private and public cloud environments. Traffic can be classified on the basis of the application (instead of the port), resulting in deep visibility in the data flows within the cloud. This traffic can also be analyzed for threat indicators through Palo Alto Networks Treat inspection, Wildfire and DNS Security.
The Palo Alto Networks VM-Series firewall isolates mission-critical applications and data in the cloud in secure segments. It applies segmentation based on Zero-Trust principles. A zone-based security rule set ensures that you keep strong control over applications and users. Dynamic addressing at the level of the rule set ensures that your cloud workloads are fully automatically recognized and that the necessary restrictions are set.
In a virtualized network, threats move laterally from VM to VM (the so-called ‘East-West’ traffic). Using the Palo Alto Networks VM-Series firewall, you can keep control at the application level between your workloads in the cloud, starting from a Zero-Trust principle. This way, your exposure is significantly reduced, and both known and unknown threats can be blocked.
The automation features of the Palo Alto Networks VM-Series allow you to realize the roll-out of security in private and public clouds extremely quickly and flawlessly. This allows ‘bootstrapping’ to automatically provision the VM-Series with a working configuration, including the necessary licenses and subscriptions. It automatically links the VM-Series to the Panorama management platform by means of auto-registration. Configuration changes can be automated through dynamic policy updates, using the native cloud tools (Cloud Formation, ARM templates, ….). Or external platforms such as Terraform or Ansible. Your security therefore maximally follows the elasticity that you can expect from cloud computing.
The Palo Alto Networks Panorama management platform provides you with a powerful centralized tool for configuration and security analysis.
