The global health crisis has accelerated digital transformations as organizations look to boost efficiencies and productivity. While OT/IT convergence is unlocking business value, it is also rapidly expanding the threat landscape.
A recent survey of manufacturing decision‑makers found that 67% had speeded up their adoption of digital technologies due to the pandemic. With this immediate pressure has come less planning and control. As a result, OT/IT convergence is even riskier.
This challenge is exacerbated because there is a wide range of differences between the worlds of OT and IT. At the same time, neither OT nor IT are well‑positioned to lead security efforts unilaterally. But it is possible to organize responsibilities effectively to complement each other.
